I.
Proposed
By Law Changes:
1.
Current Article III
Section 1:
Membership
in this organization shall be limited to men who
have reached the age of eighteen years, and who are of good moral character.
Change to:
Membership
in this organization shall be open to all persons
who have reached the age of eighteen years and who are of good moral character.
Purpose:
Open
membership to include woman. This is long overdue. The New York Athletic Club
changed this in 1987 and Augusta National in 2012. It is unrealistic in this day and age to
think we can prosper or even survive with exclusions such as this. This ammendment alone will create a
newsworthy buzz and boost that will bring new and old members back and begin to
clear the road to revival.
2.
Current Article III
Section 7
Membership
should be classified as follows:
(a) Full dues paying members
(b) Life Members: Members
who have completed 30 years of continuous membership shall be classified as Life
members.
(c) Non-resident members.
Members who have legal addresses more than 75 miles from Syracuse and live at
this address for a minimum of six months each year, may apply to the Board for
a non-resident membership. Individual members must submit their request for
non-resident status in writing to the membership committee prior to December 1st
for consideration for the next year.
(d) Inactive members:
Members who have been granted such status by the Board (military service,
physical disability, etc.) shall be classified as inactive members.
(e) Full paid members.
Members who have attained 25 years as full dues paying members may pay 5 years
dues in advance. Thereafter, no dues shall be due.
(f) Hardship: Any member who
is financially unable to pay the prescribed dues or assessment may petition the
Board in writing prior to December 1st to waive said payment. The
petition shall be effective only for the year requested and maybe renewed on a
yearly basis.

(g) Add: Associate
Members: Members without ownership/voting rights whose club status and dues are
decided on by the Board and whose time as members does not accrue toward life
membership. ie. League Members, Social Members
Purpose: To clarify that Full paid members will still
owe the dues of a Life member. To give
the BOD the ability to approve Associate members who will give a boost to the
club and its activities, while acting as a feeder system to full membership.
*Changes
to the membership structure will create more associate member levels and focus
on generating income from fees paid to participate in club activities and
keeping the bar active.
*There will be club fees for leagues,
tournaments, entertainment, use of banquet space etc. which will be determined
by the BOD. These fees will be in addition to any league/tournament, etc. fees
3.
Current Article IX
Section 4.
